Welcome to Herb Hour
Let’s talk about plants. And people.
Every month, Simon hosts a conversation that used to be common in every village. It’s called Herb Hour.
An hour of practical, plant-based wisdom with one of Britain’s most trusted herbal practitioners, in association with leading forager Robin Harford from Eatweeds.
A chance to remember what your grandparents knew: that plants can help. And that you can, too.
The problem
Most of us were never taught how to care for ourselves, or our families, using nature’s tools.
So we rely on pills we don’t understand. We wait until things get worse. We feel a bit helpless.
That’s where Herb Hour comes in
What it is
One hour. Once a month.
Live on Zoom.
Simon shares an illustrated presentation. You watch, learn, and ask questions if you like.
You get to keep a recording and handouts afterwards.
No hype. No miracle cures. No hard sell. And at around 15 GBP per session not a rip-off either!
Just grounded, time-tested ways to support health naturally, with plants you can often grow or find nearby.

Meet your guide

Simon is not new to this.
For almost half a century he’s been using plants as medicines to meet the full range of healthcare needs for his patients. He has also spent his life at the forefront of integrating traditional plant medicine with modern science.
Cambridge-educated and internationally respected, in 1987 Simon co-founded the world’s first university Centre for Complementary Health Studies in the UK, and later in Maryland directed the first Masters programs in herbal medicine medicine in the USA. He is Secretary of ESCOP the leading European network of herbal expertise.
He’s co-authored key textbooks used by herbal practitioners around the world and helped shape policy at the highest levels, from medical schools to the House of Lords.
But more importantly: Simon knows how to explain things clearly. And he believes in giving people practical tools they can use at home — safely, simply, and with confidence.

Disclaimer.
Each person and illness is unique and, unlike a personal health consultation, no publication can anticipate every circumstance or be appropriate for every reader. Knowledge and best practice in the health field are also constantly changing. The information in Plant Guides and the links to other sites is selected for its suitability for self care reflecting the best evidence available. However it can never replace a personal diagnosis nor substitute for a prescription. Many apparently unremarkable symptoms may disguise something more serious. If a problem has been longstanding or is otherwise inexplicable or alarming, it is important to consult professional health advisors or registered medical practitioners who are better able to spot problems that need further treatment.
In obtaining herbal products, users should not assume that all products are of good quality and should read the label carefully for detailed information about safe use, and should choose responsible manufacturers with independently assured quality standards and safety monitoring procedures. The herbs chosen in Plant Guides have good safety profiles and the best available advice is that they should generate no significant adverse effects if of good quality. However idiosyncratic reactions can occur to almost any consumed substance and although very rare can never be ruled out. Even these are most unlikely to have lasting effects if advice on this site is observed and the remedy stopped immediately.
